Our story
In times gone by, the Fronius family (an old family of Saxons) built one of the few houses that could survive the devastating fire of 1676.
A sign of high social standing, the water well in the inner courtyard of the house had saved what hundreds of years later was to become a jewel of the old Citadel. The Latin inscription, dating from after the great fire, still stands dignified on the front of the house as a sign of thanks to God for His protection.
Fronius Residence has 11 rooms, each with its own style, size and decor. In one of them, the Gothic ceilings still bear traces of the great fire. They are furrowed by carved stone arches and, from place to place, you can still see the original restored painting. The door locks are still the same as they used to be. The furniture is old, in tune with the atmosphere of the house, purchased piece by piece from different areas of Transylvania. The majestic bathrooms, made of natural materials, contain slight contrasts of old and new, designed for the full comfort of the visitor.
The place of the old cellar has been taken by the small bar. The bar tables also bear the deep imprint of time, with inscriptions from 1822 or 1900. The dowry houses, all authentic, old beams, mirror games, cobbled streets, ogives and arches ... all these details outline the energy of the times, unleashing the visitor's imagination and filling his soul with the beauty of the stories of princesses and knights. The fountain is a "gem" of the house, one of the two remaining functional ones in the entire Citadel. The reception also bears the mark of the weather. The high ceilings and discreet stained glass windows draw the visitor into the story by arousing curiosity.
